Serena Williams, padel, and the art of (non-alcoholic) deception
Heineken 0.0 decided to launch its new global campaign by putting Serena Williams on a padel court. Nothing out of the ordinary there, except that her unsuspecting opponents were led to believe they were playing against a complete beginner who had “only played three times” and “cared more about the outfit than the game.” Then Williams pulled down her hood, and things went exactly as you’d expect.
Our contribution to “The Unexpected Double” focused on audio post-production. We worked on the sound design to give the right weight to every single hit—from the intentionally clumsy shots of the opening frames to Serena’s definitive smashes—while handling the multi-channel mix and linguistic localisation to ensure the natural, candid feel of the original prank wasn’t lost in translation.
No epic celebrations here, just a great commercial that’s a pleasure to watch (and listen to).
