Bigfoot, Ice Cream and Sound Design

The new multi-subject campaign for Kinder Bueno USA takes us to the great American parks, where even a Bigfoot succumbs to the temptation of the new Kinder Bueno ice cream. The “Frozen Cones!” and “Now Frozen!” spots play on this very tongue-in-cheek concept.

At Disc To Disc, we handled the sound design and voiceover recording for the US market. From an audio perspective, the challenge lay in managing a dual register: on one hand, reconstructing a naturalistic setting and the (decidedly cumbersome) physical presence of a Sasquatch; on the other, focusing on the product itself.

We worked on the audio details to acoustically deliver the “so crispy, so creamy” claim. The goal of our sound design was to create a texture capable of making the crunchiness of the wafer and the smoothness of the ice cream palpable, making the experience immediate.

For the voiceovers, the priority was nailing the campaign’s tone of voice: maintaining the narrative lightness typical of American productions while ensuring impeccable technical quality. The result is a mix where nature, irony and product coexist in perfect balance.

A great project where technique and a healthy dose of irony came together. No Bigfoots, of course, were harmed in the studio.
